The original tarball was downloaded from http://bragg.phys.uwm.edu/xforms/
(now moved to http://world.std.com/~xforms/)

The Debian source archive is not pristine. We needed a way to hold binaries
for the library for multiple architectures. The archive consists of:

  ftp://bragg.phys.uwm.edu/pub/xforms/linux/elf/bxform-088-glibc2.1.tgz

A directory libformsX-X/FORMS/i386/ was then created with symlinks to the
i386 libraries:

   libforms0.88-0.88/FORMS/i386/libforms.a  -> ../libforms.a
   libforms0.88-0.88/FORMS/i386/libforms.so.0.88 -> ../libforms.so.0.88

The powerpc version of the libraries (from its own version of
bxform-089-glibc21.tgz) were placed in another directory:

   libforms0.88-0.88/FORMS/powerpc/libforms.a
   libforms0.88-0.88/FORMS/powerpc/libforms.so.0.88

The same operation was done for the fd2ps and fdesign binaries and for
other architectures.

The `debian' directory was added and this makes up the libformsX_X-Y.tar.gz
file. As binaries for other Debian-supported architectures become
available, new tar files will be build to include them.

This method allows us to create a _new_ libforms0.88_0.88-X.tar.gz file
every time a new architecture is added upstream (and ask the porters to
build it).
